Gerard Herder, born in The Netherlands, came to the US in 2007. He has over 30 years of experience as a technician in various fields of the performing arts and entertainment. The last 16 years of that have been as a recording engineer and producer, where his unique wide scope of experience, combined with his musical training, give him a very versatile set of skills. Being a musician himself, he started out in live sound reinforcement, worked in the biggest theaters of the country as a sound and lighting technician, and gained a reputation for recording the lesser known, non-western instruments and unconventional ensembles. Since 2004 he has been teaching theater and TV lighting in The Netherlands. In 2007 he followed his wife, a classical pianist, to the Washington DC area. Since then, he’s been recording all kinds of ensembles and soloists ranging from aspiring musicians who needed audition videos to professionals wanting a concert recording.
